The works Minis actually got DQ'd because of the lights at the Monte in '66, I think it was. It was total BS by the FIA, enabling an Alpine or something to win.

Not even because of added/rally lights. Dual element headlights were enough for the DQ, because apparently the Minis were single element stock, or somesuch. All three leaders were Minis, and the #4 (a Cortina) got DQ'ed on the same thing, leaving a Citroen DS-19. Whose driver, IIRC, promptly said "fuck this" and made a stink of his own about it.

I will say that photo is funny in that a Mini was able to actually handling rallying & that they put signs on the roof of the rally cars back then. No paint decal, an actual sign lol
